BLACK RIDGE RENEWABLE PROJECT

The Triple Oak Power team has decades of experience working with ranchers, farmers, and communities to develop renewable energy projects that benefit all, including here in Arizona. Hear directly from Navajo County rancher Bill Elkins about his experience hosting sustainable energy infrastructure at Rocking Chair Ranch. Elkins was interviewed by Triple Oak Power CEO Jesse Gronner about the lasting benefits for the ranch and investment into Navajo County. “It pours revenue into the county, equivalent of two super Walmarts,” Elkins said. “The whole experience has been good.”
As a St. Johns Regional Chamber of Commerce Enterprise Member, Black Ridge Renewable Project has made an extraordinary commitment to the community and local economy through the Chamber's highest membership tier.
The Black Ridge Renewable Project is a proposed 1,150 MW sustainable energy development near the city of St. Johns in Apache County. The project being developed by U.S.-based company Triple Oak Power will include wind turbines, solar generators and a battery energy storage facility located on private and state land. The primary phase will include 400 MW of wind and 400 MW of solar.
The project is an investment in the future of Apache County, creating new opportunities while continuing the community’s legacy of both ranching and hosting energy plants. Black Ridge will generate millions in property taxes that benefit Apache County and essential local services, like libraries, public health and public safety. The project is committed to working with local leaders and stakeholders to provide additional direct payments for the community, an investment benefiting all residents.
The initial phase will create approximately 500 construction jobs while also generating economic opportunities for area service businesses like grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations due to increased local activity over the 12–24-month construction period. The initial phase will create about 20 permanent operations and maintenance jobs with good pay, benefits and opportunities for advancement. The project team is committed to working with local partners to develop job training opportunities, so Apache County residents can take advantage of these positions.
